4 non-military jets all lined up in formation
I’ve seen a double a couple of times, but never more than that. they kept on this course all across the sky. Strange.

All I can see are 4 contrails. What sort of planes were they? Airliners?

Weird - they seem equally spaced, too. Although they’re a long way apart from each other to be called in formation. This way the chemtrails are spread out equally!

their height and lack of noise suggest so.

To high to be coming into Hill or Mt. Home. Those look like single contrails (or a dual engine contrail). Did they look like airliners?

I saw a similar formation high over Dyess AFB one time. I think it was a refueling flight. Could also be a cargo formation.

They were high enough to not be able to make out configuration very easily. If I had to guess I would say double engine based on the size

Cargo formation makes most sense to me. They are headed east, south-east which means they aren’t stopping off in Utah at all, nor did they start here.

Was about to say the same, they’re in “missing man” formation prior to the peel-off.

not seeing anything that would line up with what I saw. Probably military

Now that you mention it, Utah is known for its corn.

Did you use flightradar or some app to determine the planes?

If I recall I think they’re wrapping up some War Games in Alaska, could be a transit flight back. Or something akin to “this is how Red Dawn started”

I looked, couldn’t see anything obvious.

The red dawn theory was floated by my coworkers.

Probably a refueling training or paradrop formation

Could have been a paradrop formation...just wondering where they were going, the base is due north of their travel. Not likely fueling, since they were all putting out the same size and shape of contrail.

Well, you can refuel F-18s from F-18s. Depends on where you’re located I can check the map for milliary training routes

( this was a photo op) it has been proposed for airliners to fly in formation to save a couple percent of fuel.
